Langley Station Road railway bridge will close for about six weeks while drainage work and highway improvements are carried out.

Diversion routes will be set up in both directions from Monday, July 30, while work begins on a 24 hour a day basis to correct ongoing flooding issues, improve cycle and pedestrian access, modify the crossroad and refurbish traffic lights.

The official diversion route will be via the A412 Uxbridge Road, accessed via Langley Road and Wood Lane - which will accommodate vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

Pedestrian access will be maintained under the bridge.

The work has been made possible thanks to funding from the Berkshire Local Enterprise Fund.

Slough Borough Council's is grabbing the opportunity to do everything needed in one go.

When finished the work will have provided improved access to Langley Station, the installation of a cyclist and pedestrian crossing, an upgraded cycle route, crossroad and traffic lights; while the drainage system will be fixed to prevent future flooding.

Councillor Martin Carter, cabinet member for planning and transport, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by this closure.

“However, we have received multiple complaints about the flooding in Station Road and though the sun is shining now, the issue will return if we don’t rectify it, when it inevitably starts to rain again.

“While it will be a short term pain during the closure and diversion period, it will be a long term gain for the area, following the completion of the improvements.”
