Care providers from Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead have joined the annual London Pride parade - celebrating the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.

A total of 25 care workers from the company Care UK joined the annual march.

The company runs care homes across the area, including Oak House in Slough, Queen's Court in Windsor and Clara Court in Maidenhead.

It was the first time staff members has taken part in the London Pride parade. The company has just launched a training and guidance project to make Care UK team members aware of LGBT+ related issues, as well as developing an open culture in every care home.

Julie Bignell, home manager at Oak House in Slough, said: “It was wonderful to join the London Pride parade and march alongside colleagues and the community. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment and open culture here at Oak House, and we are all really pleased to be able to show our support with Care UK’s official LGBT+ Network. Everyone involved had a great time and we are all already looking forward to Pride next year.”
