When six-year-old Charlie Cree-Lekarla asked his mum how long it would take to ride his bike from Warwick to Windsor Castle it was just the start of the biggest adventure of his small life.

Charlie's mum Jo worked out an 80 mile route from his home to Windsor Castle that could be covered by bike in seven days.

John Atkins Cycles in Leamington Spa donated a bike and Charlie set off. Travelling with his mum, dad Stef, or uncle Paul who joined him at different points covering 15 miles a day, he raised £2,000 along the way from sponsors for two charities - Young Carers and the newly set up Pans/Pandas UK, which campaigns for a better understanding of a distressing autoimmune condition that affects children.

His journey took him through Leamington Spa, Banbury, Bicester, Thame, High Wycombe - to end up at Windsor Castle.

Charlie, who comes from the village of Cubbington in Warwickshire has now been put forward for the young achiever of the year award - part of local radio station Touch FM’s Pride of Warwickshire District Awards
