COMMUNITY groups got together for the second year running in Peascod Street to showcase their work and meet the public.

The Slough, Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead Initiative (SWAMI) Community Showcase is now in its second year.

There were 15 groups represented included Alzheimers Dementia Support, the domestic abuse charity DASH, social group Men’s Matters, Talking Therapies and True Honours which supports victims of 'honour based' violence.

Paul Samuels from the Windsor and Maidenhead Community Forum (WAMCF) said: "Windsor SWAMI was such a joyful event. So many valuable connections were created between the groups and with the public."

There was also strong support from the interfaith community with representatives from every faith on the SWAMI stand. This included representatives from Islam, Judaism, Bahá'í, Christian, Brahma Kumaris, Buddhist, Humanist, Sikh and Hindu.

Royal Borough Deputy Mayor, Cllr Colin Rayner, attended the event and spoke with the stall holders.

SWAMI are planning similar events in 2019 with an even larger number of community stalls.
