When grandmother of eight Doris Webb visited Dedworth to see her family on Saturday she never expected to end up taking part in a ‘beat the goalie’ event at Osgood Park.

But as three of her grandchildren were having a go at winning a football by getting three out of five goats past popular local goalie Stuart Wibley, she decided to have a go.

Mrs Webb, 73, who used to live in nearby Washington Drive before moving to Winkfield, ended up winning a football.

The event was organised by ward councillor Ed Wilson, helped by colleagues Michael Airey and John Bowden. Cllr Wilson laid on the 50 footballs given away during the afternoon. It was part of a council campaign to help people get active and fit.

Mrs Webb and her grandsons Sid Ruse, 21, Herbie Ruse, 14 and Alfie Webb, eight, all won footballs - helping make this a ‘generation game’ for the whole family to remember.

Mrs Webb said: “I never thought I would be scoring goals this afternoon.”
