A Viking invasion helped make Wraysbury's annual church fair at the Grange a great success on Saturday.
The fair was held as usual on the grounds of the historic mediaeval home of Glyn Larcombe and the Viking theme even inspired the vicar Colin Gibson to don the helmet and horns.
Parish council chairman and past Royal Borough mayoress Margaret Lenton opened the fair, unbothered by towering 'Viking' Tony Kimber nearby.
She said: "I prefer to remember the Vikings' sailing ability and their ability to discover things."
The inevitable children's fancy dress competition saw Daisy, Rose and Ellie Wordham plus Elizabeth and Henry Stevens win in their lovingly made Viking long boat. It had to be long to accommodate them all.
The fair was a fund raiser for St Andrew Church but a number of stalls were raising money for their own good cause.
The Wraysbury Bowls Club was celebrating its 20th birthday and offered visitors the chance to take on members in a game.
Val Lambeth, 78 and Harry Evans 10 teamed up at one point, proving that there could be future for the club from the younger generation..
Treasurer Andy Doughton said: "New members are always welcome. We meet on the Green Friday and Sundays at 9.45am. Just come along."
