The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice charity is holding its sixth annual fundraising Santa Dash event on Sunday, November 25 in Windsor Town Centre.

It is all in aid of the new children's hospice that the charity is opening in Maidenhead.

The Santa Dash route will take in the Long Walk, the castle, Queen Victoria’s statue and Windsor’s shopping streets.

The route covers 5km and can be dashed, run, jog, skipped or hopped. Catch the Earlybird prices until the end of October - Santa suits or reindeer antlers and a medal are included in the entry price.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service was founded 11 years ago. Fiona and John Devine from Dedworth set up this local charity named after their son Alexander, who died aged eight from a rare brain tumour. During the four years that Alexander was ill they realised the desperate need for a local children’s hospice.

Today Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service funds Alexander’s Nurses, who run a community service in peoples' home providing respite, play therapy, palliative care and end of life care.

The charity has now realised the dream of building a dedicated purpose built children’s hospice near Maidenhead on donated land. The hospice opened for Day Care in June this year.
