A century of votes for women will be celebrated at Burnham Park Hall, Windsor Lane, Burnham on Sunday, September 30.

The event has been organised by the Parish Council and guests who will be speaking are all pioneers in their field.

There is Fiona Mactaggart, Slough’s MP for many years before her recent retirement and a major contributor to Commons debates.

Also speaking will be Lydia Simmons who became Britain’s first black mayor when she was chosen to be Slough’s first lady. Sandeep Tak who plays for Tottenham Hotspur’s women’s team completes a fascinating line-up.

Each lady has an interesting story to tell and the evening promises to be a memorable one.

Money raised from the event will go to the Homestart charity, which helps families going through difficult times.

Tickets at £5 can be bought by going onto the Burnham Park Hall website and clicking on ‘events’.

It all starts off at 6pm.
