Spate of thefts in just 24 hours

OVER just 24 hours a shocking 14 motorists across Slough fell victim to opportunistic thieves this week.

Police are warning people not to leave sat navs or other valuables in their vehicles following the spate of thefts across Cippenham, Chalvey, Baylis, Manor Park, Upton and Colnbrook on Wednesday.

A variety of items were reported stolen, including sat navs, a DVD player, CD players, a camcorder, a rucksack, a wallet and several small amounts of cash.

Crime Reduction Adviser Annie Tewkesbury said: "We strongly advise motorists to take all valuables with them whenever they park their vehicles, and never to leave anything on display.

"Thieves are opportunists who will steal any visible property, even low-value items such as loose change. Often the damage done by the thieves as they break into the vehicle is worth far more than the property they steal."
