A DISTRAUGHT family is appealing to Slough residents to help them find their beloved pet parrot which has been part of their lives for nine years.

The Henderson family were shocked after returning back from holiday to discover that their African Grey, Boyzee, had flown out of a door of the home where he was being looked after in Farnham Road.

Father-of-two Paul Henderson said: 'Boyzee is so much more than just a pet to us.

"My three-year-old autistic son adores him and really only comes out of his shell around him.

"We have found that Boyzee encourages our son to express himself. When he sees the bird his face lights up and we even get some vocal mutterings which are normally very rare as one of the symptons of his condition is that mentally he sinks into his own world.

"We have had Boyzee since he was two months old so he is very tame and also has a wide vocabulary.

"My brother always looks after him when we go on holiday but this time he was startled by a coffee mug being dropped and flew out of the door."

Boyzee escaped at approximately 6pm on Saturday, flying in the direction of Crofthill Road.

The Henderson family, of Woodley, is offfering a £500 reward for the parrot's safe return.

Anyone who has seen Boyzee can contact Paul on 07770 332107.
