THAMES Valley Police is looking for volunteers to become mystery shoppers and visit local stations to assess the work going on.
Mystery shoppers are given a number of scenarios and assignments to test in their local stations, where they will also note other factors like cleanliness of the station, the external environment, waiting times, opening hours are displayed and general satisfaction of the service received.
There are already 100 people recruited but the aim is to have 750 mystery shoppers by the end of the year.
Ch Insp Geoff Robinson, from Local Policing, said: "The mystery shopping programme shows Thames Valley Police's commitment to the policing pledge and makes us accountable the public. This is a proactive way of identifying where we might have gaps in the service we provide and to take steps to rectify these, as well as celebrating what we do right."
Volunteers will only be asked to visit their local area and can say no to assignments they are unhappy with.
