SLOUGH Freemasons are fighting the recession
SLOUGH Freemasons are fighting the recession by funding more charitable events as the credit crisis bites deeply into the economy.
The group says it is now facing increasing
demands from charitable funds and is looking for more members who traditionally dig deep into their own pockets to help those less fortunate.
The head of Slough Freemasons, Ray Reed, said: "Freemasonry is unique in raising the majority of its charitable funds from its members. Our aim therefore is to attract more members into our fraternity."
The group recently gave £3,000 to save an annual party for 200 community heroes after fears cuts would axe the Slough Carers UK lunch.
