THE man, who killed Cippenham cop PC Chris Dent, has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Liron Shnaider, 26, was sentenced yesterday (Monday) for 20 weeks which has been suspended for two years.

The hearing at Isleworth Crown Court comes after he admitted to causing the death of PC Dent by careless driving.

He was also ordered to serve 100 hours community service and has been banned from driving for two years and must re-take an extended driving test.

PC Dent's wife Niki, of St George's Crescent, said: " Chris was a wonderful husband and a great father to Nathan, Kian and Ella.

I know how much he enjoyed his job and how respected he was by colleagues and friends alike. His death has left us all completely devastated and heartbroken. Words cannot begin to express the loss and emptiness we feel. I only wish we could turn back the clock and he would be there with us still." PC Dent was struck down on his motorbike after finishing his shift with the Met Traffic Operation Command Unit in Alperton.

Shnaider, of Golders Green, crashed his car into the officer in Perivale before fleeing.

Chief Superintendent David Snelling, Traffic OCU Commander, said: "The death of a colleague, no matter what the circumstances, is always a great sadness to everyone. But the death of Chris was felt particularly deeply by every one who ever had the pleasure of working with him in the police and previously in the armed services. Chris was a very conscientious, hard working and popular officer, who always had a smile on his face. He was in his dream role as a Traffic Officer."
