POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted as he walked along a street in Slough yesterday (Monday).

At about 12.10am, a man and a woman were walking along Diamond Road when they were approached by a group of four or five men.

One of the group punched and kicked the man before hitting him on the head with an unknown object.

The victim, who is in his mid thirties, sustained cuts, bruises and swelling to his head and face and was taken to Wexham Park Hospital for treatment.

The group of men are all Asian, aged about 20 to 25. They left the scene in a silver car, believed to be a VW Passat.

Det Con Lucy Nash, investigating officer, said: "This appears to have been an unprovoked assault that caused the victim to be hospitalised.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, who has not already come forward, to contact police as they may be able to assist with our inquiries."

Anyone with information can call police on 08458 505 505 or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The police know there are no go areas in our violent town and the diamond road area is one of them but they are to shackled by political correctness to name them, they are doing the public of slough a real disservice, what a useless bunch they are, and these violent attacks in certain areas on innocent members of the public will continue to happen thats guaranteed, there was so many of these attacks last year, the police no this but i wonder how many of these violent thugs were caught and taken to court, i think we know the answer....

Don't even try to bring race into this. This (sick) crime could've been anywhere by anyone white, yellow, pink etc... It’s not a race issue and says who the diamond road is a no go area. Did the police tell you that or is this a figment of your imagination. Are you a BNP (scaremongers) supporter?

The victim easily could have a non-white and the perpetrators white. Its crime committed against innocent law abiding citizens. It’s not a race issue let not make it one.
