Man attacked in Salt Hill Park

Comments (0) | Print | Email

A MAN was viciously beaten up by a group of men after refusing to give them a cigarette.

The 54-year-old man was walking in Salt Hill Park, near a tunnel which leads to Baylis Road, when he was approached by a group of four men, one of whom asked him for a cigarette.

He refused and after a brief verbal altercation, the group punched and kicked him, leaving him with multiple cuts and bruises to his face and torso. The victim required hospital treatment for his injuries.

Police are investigating whether any weapons were used in the attack on Friday last week at about 8.15pm.

The men are all Asian, about 5ft 9ins and have short black hair.

One of the men is muscular and has a small strip of facial hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top with black writing, dark blue jeans and white sports shoes with black stripes.

Another of the group is aged about 25, muscular and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark brown hooded top, dark blue jeans and white shoes.

The other two men are aged about 25, stocky, and had stubble on their faces. One was wearing a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans and white sports shoes, and spoke very clear English. The other was wearing a bright red T-shirt with a Nike logo on the left hand side, dark blue jeans and white sports shoes.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information, can call Det Sgt Nicola Pierce in Slough CID on 08458 505505 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

the problem here is that he wasnt attacked for not giving them a cigarette, or for being in the park. he was attacked because these boys were out looking to beat someone up. if he had given them a cigarette, then they would have asked for some money, or to use his phone, anything he would finally say no to so that they could make it was 'his fault' he was going to get a beating, when really they are just out to hurt other people. unfortunately if they didnt find someone in the park, then they would probably have moved on to somewhere else with a little more foot traffic. there are lots of little side streets where people have to walk in order to get to their hosues or flats. i hope they get picked up soon, as im sure this wont be the last time they try and make themselves feel like men. pity they arent men really, just silly little boys who need to act within a larger group because they are too cowardly to do anything on their own and on an equal footing.l

Is it me or is this the 3rd or 4th crim to have taken part within Salthill Park in the last month. Its strange, because Im usually there jogging and have never seem any police presence. Will not yet anyway. Must have been really butch to pick on 54 year old.

Than again it could have been the steroid abuse, which is known to charge up the testoserone! Absuive and Angery young men, who arent good enough to take their fighting to the ring! Rather just pick on the old man!

i think the girl who was attacked recently was walking NEAR salt hill park, not in it. i remember people getting that confused at the time (last week or week before?). some people have to walk near that park simply because its on their way home from town, or elsewhere. its like saying to a woman to avoid ledgers road at night because of the curb crawlers etc, but what do you do if thats where you live? or if you live in one of the roads off ledgers road?

and again, i dont think they wanted a cigarette, it was just an excuse to force a confrontation. their goal was clearly to start a fight with someone who they outnumbered and who wouldnt win against them. all i can say is that i hope they find eachother attractive, because no decent woman would be attracted to that kind of behaviour.

If anyone should be blamed it should be the rats that hang about in the alley ways looking for trouble. COME ON THAMES VALLEY POLICE! You can make time to make Road Wars, but what about Street Wars? Spend less time infront of the camera making documentries and go out and catch the criminals like the ones in this case! Or is it not glamorous enough when your not on camera!

Sad pathetic individuals to attack a vulenrable 54 year old. These people need to be locked up and keys thown away. Its about time the Police got tuff instead of having a softly softly approach. Why do we have to wait for a incident before the police react. They should be doing proactive policing.

Well 'bob fisher' thats really besides the point. Road wars or no road wars, you should still sort out the idiots standing around in groups. Im sure you dont need a camera for that. NOT JUST IN GROUPS BUT ALL THE TROUBLE MAKERS.

When these boys grow up they will stop, but only for another gang to take over. Its the cycle that needs breaking, these lads are just bored with nothing to do, except the drugs. Of the millions that are going to be spent on the Heart of Slough project I wonder how much will be put in the communities and give lads like this something to do?

very little i suspect anon. i think the heart of slough will do more to tart up sloughs physical appearance - which is great for businesses in slough, (yay for wealthy SEGRO) - but that aside, the social problems will probably remain because they arent being focussed upon. personally i think its sucks, as its the whole community's money being used to fund it.

This must be the 20th unprovoked street attack in the slough area in the last 6 Months, about time we had a reaction from Fiona Mctaggert MP, or does she not give a toss? Coincidently most of the attackers in these violent incidents all have the same descriptions... ITS A FACT GET OVER IT. Its about time slough woke up and smelt the coffee. P.s Hope slough police are listening aswell.

If you go to youtube and type "Slough update from Supt Chris Shead" towards the end of the interview you will hear him say crime has gone down in Slough - A complete misrepresentation of the Fact - violence in Slough has increased you can read it in the press. More coppers need on the streets not just down the high street on Fri and Sat night. Stamp out these thugs once and for all.

The police are the biggest culprits in Slough. In around these local areas, there is no police presence and no visible deterrant. These boys are all from the same communities peddling drugs. When they do get caught, their solicitors make up a defence for them and they get off coz the CPS is so incompetent. THE POLICE NEED TO TAKE ACTION NOW BEFORE THINGS GET WORSE. WHAT ARE WE PAYING TAXES FOR? Police statistics are just propaganda. Does anyone really feel safe walking around Slough in the evenings.

another problem i think is that local community wardens used to patrol the streets also as a visible deterent to anti social behaviour and so that the public coud aproach them. now they can only drive around in cars because they arent allowed to patrol anymore.

why shouldnt a 54 year old man or any man walk in the park at 8:15 pm in his own country.

It's often these dangerous cowardly ungrateful immigrants attacking people (especially in salt hill park)

They should be deported at once , if and when caught , and found to be guilty.

I'm sure there are not of immigrants who are hard working and law abiding

& gratful to be a part of the British society. It is just a shame that a majority mis-behave and cast a dark shadow over them.
