A FORMER East Berkshire College student is hoping to represent Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Six acts will compete to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in the television show 'Your Country Needs You!' which will be broadcast tonight (Friday).

One of the acts, Miss Fitz, includes Gemma Sampson, who studied Performing Arts at the Langley campus of the college.

The Maidenhead based singer, 27, (pictured right) said: "I am excited, nervous and really glad of the opportunity to be able to perform and to have the chance of getting to the Eurovision in Oslo."

The group, which also includes Maiken Kroken, 23, and Marina Berry, 25, perform cover songs and give them their own stamp of jazzy, big band-style arrangements.

All the hopefuls can be seen performing tonight (Friday) at 8.30pm on BBC One.
