A MULTIMILLION pound upgrading project has started at the Mars factory in Slough.
A total of £5.2m has been set aside by the confectionary giant to build a state-of-the-art research facility at the site in Dundee Road.
Slough mayor Joginder Bal joined other local dignitaries to get a sneak peek at the construction site for the modern purpose built facility, which will include new offices, laboratories and kitchens to prepare and create products.
Fiona Dawson, managing director of Mars Chocolate UK said: "I am delighted to announce this investment. We're all very excited to be having a world class, state of the art Research and Development facility built here in Slough."
The two year project will conform to internationally-recognised BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) construction standards, which sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and measures a building's environmental performance.
