ANOTHER upgraded play area in Slough has been reopened thanks to a £1.2m grant.

Deerwood Park play area in Earls Lane, Cippenham, is the 14th of 22 parks to have received an upgrade with the money given by the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Youngsters from Western House School were the first to try out the new equipment which included a trampoline, swings and a bank slide.

Councillor Natasa Pantelic, commissioner for education and children's services, said: "The opening of the play area in Deerwood Park is another step forward in this brilliant project.

"It should be a right and not a luxury that children have access to good quality play areas, and as we approach the completion of all 22 play areas, we have made sure this is now a reality."

The park was officially reopned by Slough MP Fiona Mactaggart and mayor Joginder Bal on Thursday last week.

I think it's great that the government and our town are investing in playgrounds and access to green spaces for our children. They need to get and play, get wild and have fun, and these investments can only make our town more attractive and a great place for people to live and children to grow up.
