Firefighters slam vandals after spate of bin fires
FIREFIGHTERS have slammed vandals for wasting their resources as they were called out three times in a matter of hours in a mini arson campaign last night.
Crew from Slough were called out to four separate bin fires in two nearby streets in the Britwell estate in a three hour period.
Slough's green watch first attended Bromycroft Road at 8.30pm to put out two fires at either end of the street. They were called out again to nearby Odencroft Road at 9.30pm with another bin ablaze before returning to the street an hour later to put out another bin fire.
Crew manager Barry Ashton said: "It was a mini-arson campaign. The fires were in external bin stores for flats.
"It's frustrating for us because it is tying up resources and fire cover for the area. It's very similar to hoax calls - we're not available to go to anything else that comes up.
"Four to five police were there for two hours but it ties them up as well."
