IN THE turn of the season as winter gives way to spring, bird lovers helped give their feathered friends a home.
The Herschel Park volunteers held a 'Build A Bird A Home' session, at the Bentley Education Centre at the Slough Park on Thursday, February 16.
There were more than a hundred people at the session, including groups of friends, families and bird enthusiasts, as well as Midweek Observer photographer Mike Swift, who wanted to make his own box.
Tony Down, Herschel Park management officer, said: "The day was a big success and there were big groups of people and not just individuals. The people who turned up managed to make 34 boxes and they have been spread around Slough. They're for blue tits and great tits.
"We had children but a few adults were there for their own interests. This is the ideal time to put the boxes up."
