A LIBRARY will open up its doors for a health fair on Saturday.
Slough Borough Council, in partnership with Berkshire NHS, is inviting residents to pop along to Slough Library, in High Street, for a free health and fitness MOT.
The health fair aims to improve the health of residents by offering checks, providing information to encourage good practice and offering advice and support on all health issues.
Shah-Bano Razvi, project co-ordinator at Berkshire NHS, said: "It is a great opportunity for people to check out their health in a relaxed environment. Although it is a serious issue, the day will be a fun event with a range of activities."
Residents can have their blood pressure checked, have a Chlamydia test and have their body mass index worked out.
Gaynor Baveystock from the council's library service added: "The health checks on offer at the fair can be life saving and life changing. It is an opportunity to pick up on important messages and, on some occasions, receive vital alerts to enable residents to follow up on serious health issues."
Information on weight management, heart disease, quitting smoking and mental and sexual health will be available. The event, held in partnership with Age Concern and Montem Leisure Centre, will run from 11am-3pm.
