A HUGE operation to crack down on prostitution has seen the 32nd and final person to be sentenced.
All 32 men arrested as part of Operation Chevron between 21 and 25 February 2011 have now been sentenced with Yankuba Touray, 41, from Barking, East London, being fined £1,015 after he was found guilt at Reading Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 14.
All those arrested were charged, on the advice of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), with soliciting a person in a street or public place for the purpose of obtaining sexual services from them as a prostitute.
Det Sgt, Will Halliday, of Thames Valley Police, said: "I am pleased with this latest sentencing, which not only concludes Op Chevron and gives it a successful conviction rate of 100 per cent, but helped to support the Chalvey neighbourhood policing team in tackling a community issue as part of an ongoing multi-agency plan.
"While Operation Chevron may not have involved us dealing with the most complicated or heinous offences when compared to other serious crime types, the way in which these men behaved with the women involved had a detrimental effect on the lives of so many law-abiding citizens and residents who just wanted to go about their day-to-day lives in Slough."
"Slough police area will continue to run both overt and covert operations tackling prostitution and kerb crawlers. Let me make this abundantly clear, we will arrest you, you will be prosecuted and you will be convicted and left with a criminal record".
