A PARISH council is calling for a public inquiry into a controversial secondary school’s plans after unanimously objecting its revised proposals.

Stoke Poges Parish Council rejected the new application to change the use of Pioneer House in Hollybush Hill from offices to a secondary school for Khalsa Secondary Academy at an extraordinary planning meeting on Thursday last week (10/4).

An initial change of use application was refused by South Bucks District Council (SBDC) in January, and an appeal has been lodged with the planning inspectorate, which was received on Wednesday, April 2.

Parish council vice chairman Saera Carter, speaking after the meeting, said: “We spent time [at the meeting] informing people what the applications were, as we have one that was turned down and a second one in, and an appeal on the first one.

“We put the resolution on the table that we object to it, which was unanimous.

“We are starting to work on the paperwork that we need to hand to the [planning] inspectorate. The village would like it to be dealt with by public inquiry, as it should be done in an open and transparent way.” The planning inspectorate has listed the application to be heard as a hearing on Thursday, July 10, but a spokesman for the planning inspectorate confirmed that it is considering holding a public inquiry, although no decision has been made.

A decision by SBDC on the new change of use application, which includes a more comprehensive travel plan, is expected by Sunday, May 11.
