SIX Ukip campaign boards have been vandalised just hours after they were put up in the ward where the local party’s chairman is standing for election.

The boards were put up by chairman Ken Wight in the Cippenham Green ward at around 2pm on Saturday. But police were called in to investigate after he found them all vandalised at 12noon the following day.

Mr Wight said described it as ‘dirty tricks’. “Several of my correx boards have been vandalised or removed completely in my ward,” he said. “I will be putting them back up. Police said they will be keeping an eye on the area.” A police spokesman said they are investigating suspected criminal damage.

Voters are due to head to the polls on Thursday for the local elections. All 42 councillor seats are up for election.
