AN ILLEGAL flytipper has been convicted of the offence, fined £100 and ordered to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £1,135.

Damian Walkowski, 27, from Middlesex, was convicted at Wycombe Magistrates Court on January, 21, after pleading guilty to an offence of dumping waste illegally.

The court heard that on the morning of June, 23, 2014, Mr Walkowski was seen throwing rolled turfs out of his van by a member of the public in Seven Hills Road, Iver Heath.

The witness noted Mr Walkowski’s registration number and reported the incident.

During an interview conducted by Buckinghamshire County Council Enforcement Officers at the police station, the landscape gardener admitted being at the location at that time, but denied dumping the turfs.

However, in court he changed his account and pleaded guilty to the dumping.

As well as the fine and costs, a victim surcharge of £20 was also levied, making the total to pay £1,255.

The case was prosecuted by Buckinghamshire County Council working on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire.

The Waste Partnership launched the 'Illegal Dumping Costs’ campaign in October 2003 to combat illegal dumping and waste management offences in Buckinghamshire.

Since then, the partnership has secured 462 convictions against individuals and companies for illegal dumping and related offences.

This news comes as councils urge local residents to report anyone seen dumping waste illegally.
