A BOOKMAKERS has been the target of an armed robbery for the second time in two months.

Two masked men carrying hammers entered the Betfred shop in Burnham Lane, Slough, on Tuesday evening at 7:26pm.

One of the men jumped over the counter and forced the male member of staff to give him cash from the safe, while the second man guarded the door.

This is the second incident like this in two months following a robbery in November, when a man threatened the female manager with a firearm, before stealing cash from the safe and her purse.

Both men from Tuesday’s incident were white with the first man being described as aged in his late 20s, 6ft tall, slim, with very short dark hair and wearing a white cloth to cover his face, a white T-shirt, dirty, dark blue jeans and a belt.

The second man who was wearing a long brown coat, black trousers and black fabric to cover his face, is 5ft 8ins tall and was wearing his hood up.

The manager, who has been at the Betfred branch since March 2013, commented: “Well, I’m nervous to say the least.” Although the company have installed lights at the front and back of the premises, she believes that removing the bandit screens at the counter last August, was a bad move.

“The staff aren’t happy about the decision,” she said.

No one was injured in either incident.
