Firefighters battled through the night to contain a blaze in the middle of a residential park.

Crews from Berkshire and Buckinghamshire were called to The Orchards mobile home park, in Pickford Drive, Langley, at around 8pm last night, following reports of a fire at a derelict farmhouse.

Pauline and Robert Collins, live next to the building. Mrs Collins, 64, said: “My sister came running down the road, calling me, going 'fire, fire’.

“I thought it was her place but she said 'I’ve come straight to you to get you out’.

“We had to get out of here and people had to move their vehicles in case they caught on fire.” The fire was attended by crews throughout the night including one from Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe Princes Risborough, Langley, Hillingdona and two from Slough, along with the Command and Control Unit from Aylesbury.

Mrs Collins, who could see the blaze from her window, added: “The front was alight, it was going up. The windows were smashing - we thought it was fireworks.

“I was scared to death, I’ll be honest.

“It was horrendous seeing it going up.” Once Mr and Mrs Collins were out they made sure their neighbours were safe too.

Mrs Collins said: “It was all panic.

“People were worried about their homes going up.” Mr Collins, 60, added: “We were just lucky there was no wind about last night.” By lunchtime today, police were still at the scene as well as High Wycombe fire crew and Amersham relief crew.
