A RUGBY club was invited to send a squad of twelve U8s to Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the world-famous venue for paralympic games and wheelchair sport, to welcome the Webb Ellis Cup on day 73 of its tour of the UK.
Slough RFC U8s' enjoyed a day last week that started with a coaching session led by Steve Brown, Team GB Wheelchair Rugby captain, which involved the young Greenies using wheelchairs to work through various training exercises before they youngsters got to see the Webb Ellis Cup delivered by Lawrence Dallaglio, ex-Wasps and England captain.
Andrew Leighton-Pope, Slough’s youth chairman said: “It was a great day out. for everyone, The wheelchair rugby session provided a very good life lesson for the children and we now look forward to the World Cup starting with all games shown live at Slough RFC.”
