There is nothing like a dame – and Mother Goose is many people’s favourite panto character.

The familiar story about the goose-loving matriarch who owes the Wicked Baron lots of back rent has been delighting audiences for centuries.

Colnbrook Amateur Stage Theatre will be telling the familiar tale once again this Christmas.

The show is being performed at Colnbrook Village Hall in Vicarage Way and boasts all the familiar ingredients for panto lovers.

Mother Goose lets her vanity gets the better of her when the wicked troll persuades lets her take a dip in the ‘bog of beauty’ – in return for letting him take her favourite goose Priscilla to live with him.

Of course all the troll really wants is to eat her for his tea.

Meanwhile Priscilla’s new-found ability to lay golden eggs has attracted the attention of the evil Baron Von Hazlenut – as has Mother Goose’s beautiful daughter Freya.

The show features a crazy trip in a balloon for the terrified Mother Goose, a creepy spider chasing everyone round the stage, a messy wallpapering sequence and a riotous trip to the ‘magic mountain’ for the baron and his henchmen Honk on the backs of some very demented geese.

Will Priscilla get eaten? Will the baron get his wicked way with Freya? Or will he end up lumbered with the newly beautified Mother Goose? You can see the show at Colnbrook Village from Wednesday, December 7 to Sunday, December 11 – tickets £9 (£7 concessions).
