A MAN has been jailed for robbery and firearms offences.
Sam Robertson, 40, of Farnham Road, Slough, has been sentenced to a total of seven years in prison following audacious raids on two bookmakers shops just down the road from his home.
On June 14 this year at around 8.20pm Robertson entered the first shop on Farnham Road, Slough, carrying a black imitation handgun and handed a note over to staff demanding money but the staff refused.
About ten minutes later, Robertson entered another bookmakers on Farnham Road, again using the note to demand money and this time he did make away with some cash.
Robertson was arrested on June 17, and charged on June 23.
He was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on December 9 for one count of attempted robbery, one count of robbery, and one count of possession of an imitation firearm. He was found guilty by unanimous jury at the same court on the same day.
Investigating Officer, Det Con Stuart Malham, of Force CID based at Maidenhead, said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for all of the victims involved.
“I would like to acknowledge their courage throughout this investigation.
“The actions of Robertson on that day, had a lasting effect on their wellbeing and I would now like to think that they can move on from this very traumatic incident."
