Staff from Slough's Sainsbury team have been creating their own Advent Calendar - by making a different donation every day in December to a different charity or group.

The team from Sainsbury's Farnham Road store have already visited SHOC (Slough Homeless Our Concern) headquarters at Serena Hall, Burlington Road with a £50 voucher, Arbour Vale School in Farnham Road with a £100 cheque and Slough fire station with equally welcome mince pies.

They have also called in at a nearby mosque and a Hindu temple.

Among the enthusiastic team were store manager Sarah Rutledge, human resources manager Tracey Williams and supervisor Jazz Sangha.

The Sainsbury's team did not wait around till December though to start spreading goodwill. Staff members had already dropped some mince pies in at Wexham Park Hospital before they began their December mission, visiting several wards.

They hopped aboard a buggy provided by a hospital volunteer to do the rounds taking in everything from the children's ward to the cardiology ward..

Diana Humphreys from Sainsbury’s said: “It was wonderful to spread some festive cheer, everyone was so happy to see us and they were all very happy with their mince pies.”
