It was a magic day for pupils at Claycots School on Monday when they found themselves being taught by Disney characters.

Led by teachers Ola Warszawska and Iqra Sheikh, all members of staff at the school in Bath Road, Slough - including office personnel, teaching assistants and lunchtime controllers - dressed up as popular Disney and fairytale characters.

At the centre of the playground stood a door with items of clothing caught at the edges as if famous characters were trapped inside - guarded by four Thames Valley police officers.

Miss Sheikh said: "It was a great way to inspire our kids and set their imaginations free and you could tell how much they enjoyed and also learned from the day."

Although primarily designed as a fun day for the pupils, there was a strong educational element. At 9am, each classroom leader played a recording on their laptops of Snow White screaming in peril.

Children were then taken to the assembly hall which was set up as the court room where seven members of staff played suspects, including Shrek and Prince Charming.

Children were given clues throughout the day to work out which of the character was the guilty suspect.

Ms Warszawska added: “The challenges we gave to the children were designed to get their brains working in a different way and although they were exhausted by the end of it, it was clear to see how rewarding they found it and their parents certainly felt the same."

To complete the atmosphere real reindeer visited the school.
