SMALL charities have the chance to take centre stage and raise cash at this year’s Slough Together Walk.
The walk in Upton Court Park on Saturday, April 29, is staged by the Rotary Club of Slough but allows charities to fundraise for themselves through sponsorship.
The club only takes a small entry fee to help cover costs for the five-mile walk from Slough riverside to Eton.
Walking this year will be fundraiser, Jayne Stevens, who is raising cash for the South Bucks branch of Riding for the Disabled. The charity lets children with disabilities ride horses and ponies. She raised more than £2,000 for them last year.
She said: “Jess (my daughter) has continued to go from strength to strength at this amazing riding school.” Spending time at South Bucks RDA really is a privilege and it always makes us realise why this walk, your support / donations mean so much.”
Cash prizes are also given to charities taking part on the day including £300 for the charity with the largest number of people walking, £200 for the second largest, £300 for the person raising the greatest sponsorship and £200 for the second greatest.
