A child was rescued from a blazing house by members of the public in Alexandra Road, Slough this afternoon.
Fire crews from Slough, Langley and Windsor raced to the scene after receiving reports of the fire at 1.46pm.
They arrived to find the child already rescued but had to wear breathing apparatus to get inside and rescue a woman - before putting the fire out with a hose reel.
The woman was transferred to the care of South Central Ambulance Service suffering from the effects of inhaling smoke.
Officers from Thames Valley Police are investigating.
