The woman who keeps an eye on Slough and Windsor's licensed premises is a real 'star'.

Debie Pearmain - who is the police licensing officer for Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead - was presented with a National Pubwatch Star Award by Thames Valley's Acting Chief Constable Nikki Ross at a ceremony on May 22.

She said: “I enjoy working with the trade and believe that attending the Pubwatch meetings are crucial to the reduction of the violent crime in the towns.

"I have built up very strong working relationships with the licensees, area managers and door staff in both of my areas and believe that by working together we can and do make a difference to the NTE violence and anti-social behaviour."

The Star Awards were presented to mark the 20th anniversary of National Pubwatch.

ACC Ross said: “This is a great opportunity for me to recognise the great work carried out by our teams supporting Pubwatch and therefore ensuring that pubs and clubs remain safe and secure places to go."

Thames Valley Superintendent Becky Mears and Steve Baker, the voluntary chairman of the National Pubwatch scheme were there to add support.

Also honoured with a star was Diane Brown - Aylesbury Vale Watch Schemes and Neighbourhood Alert Coordinator.
