Slough station welcomed two important passengers this morning, when the Queen and Prince Philip arrived at Platform Five.
They were there to recreate the journey made by Her Majesty's great-great grandmother Queen Victoria on June 13, 1842 travelling from Slough to Paddington.
The royal couple and their party were cheered by schoolchildren from Slough's Iqra, St Mary's and Marish Schools, before boarding Great Western Railway's new Intercity express train, which is due to enter passenger service later this year.
Joining the Queen and Duke on the journey were descendants of Daniel Gooch, who drove the original locomotive - Phlegethon - and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the celebrated engineer who designed the Great Western Railway line and assisted Mr Gooch during the 1842 journey.
