Parish councillors Scott Bryant and Ray Angell 'flew the flag' for Colnbrook's recreation ground on Saturday - despite the refusal of the British weather to co-operate.

The recreation ground in London Road has retained for the sixth year running the prestigious green flag award mark for quality - which is presented by the Government supported charity Keep Britain Tidy.

Cllr Scott Bryant, who is chairman of Colnbrook Parish Council and his colleague Cllr Ray Angell joined trustee of the Colnbrook Community Partnership Mike Nye at the weekend to lower the old green flag and put up the new one.

Unfortunately hopes that the new flag would fly open dramatically at the top of the pole, revealing the fact that it had been newly presented in 2017, were doom to disappointment.

Cllr Bryant said: "We need some wind to reveal it in all its glory and show the new date but it does not look like the wind is going to oblige."

In the end the two councillors posed with the flag opened up before running it up the pole. The only contribution made by the weather was a heavy downpour on the new flag a few moments later.

To keep its green flag for a sixth year, the Colnbrook park had to meet a list of criteria, being clean and well maintained, healthy and safe, well marketed and managed and successful with the community.
