Villagers are being asked for their views on whether a new war memorial should be built in Colnbrook.

Colnbrook has the names of its war dead listed on a pillar in St Thomas Church and on a plaque attacked to the Jubilee Clock, which has unfortunately proved vulnerable to vandals.

Now parish councillor Eddie Elum-Smith and Paul Brooks are running an online survey on the parish council’s website asking visitors to indicate if they would like a new cenotaph to be put up and there they think it should go.

The existing war memorial on the north aisle of the church was consecrated in 1934 and will not be affected or changed if a new one is approved.

If enough people support the new memorial it could go in front of the Budgens store, beside it in place of the flower display, or directly outside the church.
