SEGRO - owners of the Slough Trading Estate - are glowing with pride today as the first annual International Thunderbirds Day explodes across the country.
The late Gerry Anderson’s famous Thunderbirds puppet shows were originally written, produced and filmed at the Slough Trading Estate between 1964 and 1966.
As part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations the Thunderbirds team returned to its original home to produce three new episodes, under the guiding hand of Gerry's son Jamie Anderson.
The project made use of audio recordings first released in 1966 which featured the series’ original voice cast as well as contemporary music and sound effects.
The puppets were faithfully recreated along with the original sets, to create three brand new video episodes in the distinctive Thunderbirds style.
The recreated films will be shown at 2pm today at 52 Vue cinemas across the UK including those at Staines and Reading.
Paul Lewis, SEGRO’s Regional Director, Thames Valley and Data Centres, said: “We’d like to congratulate all those involved in re-creating the brand new Thunderbirds episodes as part of the Thunderbirds 1965 project.
“Thunderbirds is an iconic British brand that is known worldwide and which produced all its original shows from our Slough Trading Estate. So it was really exciting to welcome Thunderbirds back to their original home during recent filming and to be a part of their 50th anniversary in 2015."
