NEIL BAKER insists that Slough Town will travel to Gainsborough Trinity without any fear in the FA Cup first round proper.

The Rebels beat Folkestone Invicta 1-0 at Arbour Park on Saturday to reach the first round for the first time since 2012.

Gainsborough are currently second from bottom in National League North and, while it might not be the romantic tie supporters had hoped for, Baker expects his side to give it a real go.

The Rebels joint-boss told the Observer: “When you get into the first round everyone talks about that dream tie against some of the big boys, but when that doesn’t happen you want a game where you’ve got a chance to get through.

“Gainsborough will look at it as a home game against a team from the league below. We have a long journey and we’re playing away from home but we will not go there with any fear. We will have a real go at them.

“I’m sure there will be two sides trying to win a game of football and trying to get themselves into the second round proper.

“If you get there it’s more money for the club and who knows you could pull out another non-league side and potentially be 90 minutes away from one of the real big boys.

“We are looking forward to it and we will make sure we’re prepared properly for it, but we can put it to the back of our minds for now.

"We have got another two league games and an FA Trophy match before that so we’ve a lot of football to play.”
