A series of events across Slough designed to make people see their town with new eyes was launched on Saturday at the Curve.

Known as Bring Your Own Future the planned series of workshops mark the first major project of HOME Slough - a consortium of arts groups across the town.

Sophie Mellor and Simon Poulter will be hosting the sessions for budding painters of all ages, aiming to merge watercolours with virtual reality to help people find new ways of seeing their home town.

It all began at the Curve at the weekend as a wide range of enthusiastic beginners were encouraged to learn and practise basic watercolour techniques.

Future sessions will be held at Tesco Extra, Queensmere Shopping Centre, Slough Council for Voluntary Services and the Curve again.

During some of the sessions those taking part will be able to use virtual reality HTC jive headsets to help them create 360 degree water colours of their town.

The big climax will be on Saturday, January 20 at the Curve, when the final event for Bring Your Own Future will include speakers and activities looking at a 'future Slough' plus an exhibition of work created by people involved during the project.

Places are limited at the various workshops which are all free with all materials provided.
