THE RESULTS are in for the Colnbrook with Poyle by-election.

Three seats were up for grabs, following the death of one councillor, Kishorbhai 'K' Laxman, and the departure of two long-serving councillors, Peter Hood and Ray Angell.

Kumar Babuta Anup (Lab), of Coleridge Crescent, Colnbrook, received the most support, obtaining 313 votes.

Close behind was Joycelyn Angela John (Con), of Sherbourne Close, Colnbrook, who received 298 votes.

The final seat was won by Allistair Buchanan (Con), of Park Street, Colnbrook, who received 297.

17.32 per cent of the Colnbrook with Poyle electorate turned out to vote in the election.

Both Mr Buchanan and Mrs John were proposed by a councillor for Slough Borough Council, Cllr Dexter Smith.

Cllr Smith said: "The two who got elected are all people who have been in Colnbrook with Poyle for some years. I think they are ideal to be joining the parish council, and will bring a new vitality and an extra dimension to what we are doing.

"Joyce John is very big in the Caribbean community, and has raised a lot of support for the Anguilla relief fund. Allistair lives in one of the village's listed buildings, and has spent a long time restoring it. He is very interested in the heritage, and enhancing the appeal, of the village."

Colnbrook with Poyle Parish Council said: "The Parish Council would like to congratulate those elected and we look forward to working with them to make our Parish a great place to live and work."
