The owner of a new bar and restaurant opening on Thursday, December 14 in central Slough says it will offer something the town has never experienced before.

Yoga Mogantas, Managing Director of MC Group UK which is behind the new Rickshaw Road restaurant, said: “The food is totally different from mainstream Indian restaurants. You won’t find the usual curries on the menu."

What you will find is street food like chaat - a round hollow fried puri, jhinga idly - a steamed savoury cake famous in South India, kothu rotti - an iconic dish from Sri Lanka made of chopped rotti cooked with meats and Bombay Tacos.

The restaurant seats 150 diners and has a rustic theme with an oxcart, bicycle, buddha and colourful wall-mounted doors, plus an open kitchen allows diners to see their food being cooked.

Mr Mogantas said: "Slough was recently recognised as one of the best places to live and work in the UK and with a high number of Asian residents, the arrival of cross rail and more young professionals moving to the area, it made absolute sense to open somewhere like Rickshaw Road which has broad appeal. It is the sort of affordable casual dining which appeals to everyone - families and professionals alike.”

Rickshaw Road is in William Street next to the Curve.

Yoga Mogantas and his business partner Nayan Chande of MC Group UK Ltd, currently have six sites including the Namaste Lounge bar and Indian restaurant in Northwood and Tamara Lounge in Hillingdon, a lounge bar with a Chinese and traditional Indian restaurant.
