Hopes are rising that Eton Wick’s crowded churchyard could finally get to be extended.
A new planning application by Reverend La Stacey has gone to the Borough Council for permission to extend the churchyard onto adjoining land at St John the Baptist Church.
An earlier application was made in 2008 but lapsed.
Geoff Low, chairman of the Parish Churchyard Fund said that posters were being prepared to encourage village support.
There is only room for a few more people in the existing graveyard. But there is a strong feeling that future generations have a right to be buried in their own village.
