A 57-year-old man was found with serious head injuries on the Ward Royal estate shortly after midnight on Good Friday.

The man was found by a member of the public in the area of Mountbatten Square on the Windsor estate. An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital with a serious internal head injury, where he has been kept in for treatment.

Police are mystified at the moment as to what happened and are asking the public for help as they try and find out if the man had been attacked or not.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen the man is asked to help. He is of average height and build and is balding. When he was found, he was wearing thick rimmed glasses, a chequered shirt over a t-shirt, blue jeans and shoes.

He has been identified and his next of kin informed.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jay Knewell, based at Maidenhead police station, said: “We are working to establish how the victim came to sustain these injuries, and I am appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

“I would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who saw the man matching this description in the Ward Royal area late on Thursday night into the early hours of Friday morning.

“If you have any information which you think could help our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.”
