Polling has now closed for general suggestions for the new MONOPOLY board for Royal Windsor, although nominations for charities are still being taken, WRITES PAUL THOMAS.

Dexter – Windsor’s adopted celebrity cat – secured “an enormous amount” of votes during polling and is set to feature on a card that says ‘go straight to jail, do not Pass GO – for FAILING to stroke Dexter’!

The board is beginning “to now take great shape”, say the game’s makers Winning Moves UK: - The leading Mayfair position could be the domain of “unrivalled” Windsor Castle.

The slot considered the “trendiest” - Angel, Islington - may feature The Old Court, Windsor.

- The four train stations form the original will be handed over to a ‘travel theme’ as there aren’t four main line stations to pick from as in the original London MONOPOLY game. Although it’s understood two of the four in the set will be the two main stations.

“The board is now taking great shape,” says a spokesperson for Winning Moves UK – the company producing the game under official license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro.

Every single one of the famous MONOPOLY spaces from the London original like Mayfair and Park Lane – 28 in all - will be getting a Royal Windsor makeover. And very many of the Chance and Community Chest cards will also be Royal Windsor themed too.

The spokesperson added: “Thank you to everyone who has sent in suggestions. The response has exceeded even our most optimistic expectation We are now starting to design the game. It will be on shelves well in time for this Christmas.”

The game itself will be themed in sets from heritage to tourism, culture to shopping, education to business and sport to media. The cards will be town themed. Charity nominations to royalwindsor@winningmoves.co.uk or via the official Royal Windsor Monopoly Facebook page or by traditional post to MONOPOLY ROYAL WINDSOR EDITION, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ.
