An army of determined litter collectors set off on Saturday morning with a mission - to clean up their town.
It was the second time Langley councillor Madhuri Bedi had arranged such an event in her Foxborough ward.
She was joined by Cllr Michael Holledge, from neighbouring Kedermister ward, plus keen volunteers from the community including the Word of Life churches, the mosque in Cheviot Road and the Hindu temple in Keel Drive - not to mention her 12-year-old son Nahal.
They all set off from Longwood Park centre in Common Road with one big advantage over last year’s team - two enormous grab vehicles provided free by the Lanz waste disposal company whose team collected almost ten tons of heavy duty rubbish, while the 'civilian' volunteers collected the lighter stuff.
Cllr Bedi said: “Unfortunately fly tipping is getting worse. Last year it was seven tons of rubbish - fortunately Lanz were kind enough to donate two vehicles this year."
