Halloween horror in South Bucks

VANDALS created Halloween horror after they went on a trail of destruction.
Gangs of up to 20 youths went on the rampage through Taplow and Burnham on Saturday night.
Two drivers had a huge shock as their cars were tipped on their sides and others damaged, and in Taplow five cars had their wing mirrors ripped off or their windscreens smashed, and one utility room door was kicked in.
PC Trevor Walker, Taplow and Dorney Neighbourhood Specialist Officer, said: "We had a couple of groups intent on causing as much trouble as possible. It is a minority but unfortunately they have caused quite a lot of problems this time round.
"Up until about 7.30pm it was all going quite nicely and the youngsters were enjoying themselves. Then the older ones, ranging from 14 - 18 started causing trouble.
"We are disappointed. We had extra patrols on, all the PCSOs were out on foot and we had two reactive police vans. We were responding to incidents as they were called in but it was playing cat and mouse because as we turned up, they dispersed.
"All the neighbourhood watch co-ordinators had been given a number to call if there were problems and the idea was we could get there before the people disappeared. It is very frustrating."
Police believe the groups moved from Burnham to Taplow and an iron fence post found is believed to have been used to cause damage.
Two years ago there was similar damage done, but last year was much improved.
Andrew Strathdee, Burnham Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, said: "There were a couple of incidents which we were disappointed about but I think generally the police handled it well and we did not have the widespread problems we have had in the past."
A Thames Valley police spokeswoman said there were no major incidents in Slough or Windsor on Halloween night.
Police launched Operation Confidence throughout the Thames Valley with increased high visibility patrols, to try and curb anti-social behaviour from now until Christmas.
Have your say. .

Just senseless! We live in Taplow and heard glass breaking and thought it might be fireworks.
Reassuring to know that nobody was caught!

This does not sound like the Burnham I grew up in 20 years ago. How times have changed. Burnham used to be lovely, but seems to be going as downhill as slough now! Thank god i got out!

It's all because of that disgraceful ram shack of a pub. THE SWAN. Have you seen it recently, in total state of dis-repair. Filthy inside and out. Filthy staff rude dopey and clueless.
Funny how all the people from the council estate all appear to be there on a friday and saturday night , a lot on Sundays spending their hard earned benefits money.
Council houses should be done away with and give these people a real sense of having to work to accomodate and look after yourself and family.
Only ill or disabled people should be entitled to benefit and housing help.
This country is becoming a disgrace. We have no housing yet allow 30,000 poles into Slough and the surrounding area who have taken all the local jobs from the community, and a lot of these people who cant find work after 1 year are able to claim benefits without ever having paid into the system. Also in Slough lots of Romanians and Polish have decided conveniently to become pregnant and we stupidly have to house them.
It's an outrage. I can see wherethe BNP are coming from on certain aspects, but i am not a racist in anyway so couln't support them , howeverthey are absoloutely right about immigration and housing for British people first.
A lot of these littlesh*ts going round smashing things up because they are jealous and these are the kids coming from the poor delapidated council estates , they do it because they know they will never be able to afford nice things themselves and these young punks are full ofanger inside that they will never go far, maybe Macdonalds job or cleaning. Sucks to be them.
Parents fault for being lazy and not getting proper jobs or even working at all.

To anon - You don't see a story about kids in Slough running riot on Halloween so how can you say Burnham has got as bad as Slough. It seems Burnham is the worse place, or certainly was on saturday.

Thanks Bob - I totally agree. There are not many of these stories about Slough - always in Burnham though. It's been going on for ages. When I was last there, I was walking back to my car in the evening and saw some poor bloke getting his head kicked in by a gang of people in a pub car park - nice place. Have lived in Slough for near on 10 years and have never seen that behaviour - and that was when there were more bars here. Let's hope those Burnham lot stay OUT of Slough.

steven, i suggest you dont go into politics, because you have a really foolish way of getting your point across. your kind of rant is what makes BNP supporters become BNP supporters. if you cant condone their racism, then i suggest you find a more tactful way of expressing yourself that doesnt feed into their racist machine.

human being is talking a load of boll0cks, the chap has made a valid point, it is just that we english are not very good at standing up for ourselves and speaking out. Jack Straw allows millions of immigrants into our country and we just simply put up with it. Not many other countries would , i tell ya.

Just like to point out that the 'daisy' who didn't agree with human being is not the same Daisy as the one, ie me - who supported Slough further up the message board! I agree with Human Being!

In some aspects I can see where Steven may be coming from, BUT, if someone just sits around on there back side for the last 40 yrs getting hand outs, living council houses and teaches there kids to do the same, when exactley do they have the time to look for the jobs that the 'immigrants' are taking?' It's all very well shouting about the immigrants taking the jobs ...... but may be it's got more to do with the fact that they are not as fussy about the jobs they apply for ... and know how to WORK.
It bit generalised I know, but ever so true of the 'council estate syndrome!
Seriously ..... the jobs are out there IF U WANT THEM!! just get off your backsides and find them like everyone else! Like Peggy Mitchell would say .... "Nobody owes you a job, Billy!"
Amazing how these "Jobs for the us" slogans come out during the recession and election times, but when the times are good, were all happy for the immigrants to do the mucky jobs!

That is such a rude, ignorant rant that you have given us all the "joy" to read.
You state people living on council estates are jealous, live in bad homes with bad parents and can never afford nice things. Do you regularly make the rounds on these "estates" and inspect the life, home life, material belongings, intelligence, IQ score and jealousy rating of children and their mother and father?
I live on a "council estate" and your comment is both offensive and ignorant. I have a wonderful life - yes, we would ideally like to own our own home but, what with my mum having cancer for a good few years whilst my dad worked every hour God gave, just to ensure we had a roof over our head and could attend a good school and have a good life, it was not the most imporant thing. Sometimes you cannot purchase a home - cancer treatment can cost a fair bit, Steven! And insurance is damn near impossible. Do you understand?
Just because you live on a council estate it does not make you scum or filth, despite your opinion. My mother and father both have excellent jobs, myself and my sister both work and have never once been in trouble for anything - not even a detention. Unlike most of my friends who are from Windsor, Maidenhead, Burnham and even Kensington...and no, they are not council "riff-raff".
Shame on you, Steven!

Me. I was not refering to ALL council estates, we are talking about trouble in Burnham , so obviously we are talking about the people from this particular estate who spend most of their time in the Swan spending their benefits money.
I am referring to these people are too idle to work, not anyone who is decent and willing to work.
We aretalking about certain people from a certain estate relevant to the story, and how much disrespect the children have from this estate in particular.
The coucil houses in problem areas with problem proven residents should be taken away from them, not anyone like your family who does work, or as i said has been ill, and are decent people.
