MASKED men assaulted a greengrocer with a hammer before raiding the shop's till and fleeing with cash.

Three balaclava-clad robbers entered Castleview Grocers, in London Road, at 9.30pm on Tuesday, January 31.

One of the men hit a 35-year-old shop worker in the stomach with a hammer before the gang made off on foot with the cash.

The victim suffered minor bruising to his body and was treated by paramedics. He didn't require hospital treatment.

The robbers are described as white, aged 20 to 30 and wearing hooded tops and scarves. It is believed that they made off in the direction of Reddington Drive/Fox Road.
