Cliveden House gets new owners

CLIVEDEN HOUSE, one of the UK's most famous hotels, has new owners after being bought by two London-based tycoon brothers.
The Grade-I listed Victorian building in South Bucks, made famous by the Prefumo Affair in the 1960s, had been put up for sale after owners Von Essen Hotels, went into administration.
Christie + Co, appointed to sell the group's portfolio of hotels, announced yesterday that Ian and Richard Livingstone, who own London & Regional Properties, paid a reported £30m for the house.
It is hoped that the the new owners will undertake a multi-million pound investment programme so that Cliveden can consolidate its position as one of the best known country house hotels.
Chris Day, International Managing Director of Christie + Co, said: "The sale of Cliveden is the pinnacle of our work to date on behalf of the Administrators of von Essen Hotels.
"This renowned hotel has a new owner who will make complete the investment required to meet the growing demands of the international leisure and corporate customers of the business.
"We are delighted to announce this long awaited sale which will be followed by more sales on behalf of the Administrators in the weeks ahead."
